Today, I was working at a place where if you're tipped, you sing. After a lady paid for her ice cream, she pulled out 5 dollars. Thinking it was a tip, I took it, and sang the song. She didn't mean to tip me. I was stopped by the woman slapping me. FML

What do you mean by "took it"? Did you just snatch it from her, or did she hand it to you? That is the difference between fyl and ydi.

They don't have tip jars at the Cold Stone you work at? In what scenario would you take a tip out of someone's hand?

Now you have reason to get a bigger "tip" from her.

That's when I would have called the police and had her arrested for battery and took a lot more than 5 lousy bucks.

I understand the pain.... I work at Coldstone..... Rude customers -.-

I know a guy who worked at CS, and he refused to sing. He came up with a system where he would catch ice cream in the cup after tossing it. To his credit, he only missed once, and promptly made the order again and paid for the original one. Still got fired for refusing to sing though...

hah, I work at mcdonalds. you think those are bad customers? I've already had 80 yr old women lock their windows up on my hand. scold me about being a worthless dropout (still in school) and slap me for not handing them receipts immidiatly...

What kind of sick employment forces you to sing when you're tipped? This is pretty close to exploitation.

Well, at least that slap made the difference between YDI and FYL, OP.

You work at cold stone creamery don't you
