Today, I went on a bad first date and the guy was more into it than me. I tried to scare him away by only speaking in robot voice, with robot arms. He thought it was adorable, and told me I reminded him of his mother. FML

#38: I agree that people shouldn't lie in a steady dating relationship, as it defeats the purpose of dating. However, I wouldn't expect someone to pour their life story out on a first date, and wouldn't press the issue if something sensitive came out, and my date clammed up. SMALL white lies are fine, in my opinion, especially on first dates. It lets both relax a little and stay away from extremely personal subjects. If there is mutual attraction, well, those subjects can be discussed at a later date.
