Today, I went on my first date in 6 months, to a Thai restaurant. We both got food poisoning and spent the entire evening alternately running to the bathroom while pretending that we were fine. FML

Today, I was on a first date at high-end Indian restaurant. I tried to impress my date by ordering the spiciest dish on the menu, only to find out it was way too hot for me to handle. I ruined the entire meal by coughing, choking, and drinking five gallons of water with tears streaming down my face for at least 40 minutes. FML

I understood your problem OP and am really feeling very sad about it. But i couldn't understand what made you feel reluctant to inform the staff about some quick-confidential emergency help when your date was in bathroom, as you two were using bathroom alternatively.

That's not food poisoning. Food born illness takes hours at minimum usually the next day to actually feel sick.

I suggest picking another location for your second date. That said: Now you both have at least a story to tell your children if all goes well. "I honestly don't know if it was love on first sight...migh've been the foid poisoning i had on our first date."

I'm surprised nobody has said this yet. If you two liked each other enough to pretend to be completely fine through food poisoning there's probably real potential for a relationship. Plus, this gives you an excuse to call her the next day and ask how she's feeling!
