God for all the people having a hissy fit over the father looking in his daughter's internet history...who the hell probably PAID for the computer she's using the internet on, he can do whatever he damn well pleases with it. Plus I was a 15 year old girl once, we do stupid shit on the internet, it's probably a good idea to do what he did.
Did anyone ever stop to think that he was going through the history on his computer that his daughter used? Here, I know, that's smart-people stuff, but you'll all get it someday.
I hate this shit. All these people are saying I'm an inconsiderate ass, just for having a problem with my dad not trusting me at all for something I did 3 years ago. I love my father. He's one of the coolest people I know. I have a problem with him not trusting me, because it makes me feel like i'm not worth anything. I have an opinion. You have yours. Now shut the **** up and stop hating.
i think this is neither a fyl or ydi bcuz it was your idea to go through her history. parents have the right to go through their kids history, one because they probably bought the computer and two, because it's their house. all of the people on here saying they would be extremely mad at Their parents for doing that are most likely ungrateful for the love that their parents have given them. you live in their house so it's their rules. if you are smart you would just delete all the bad stuff
when i first got my own computer, my dad checked my internet history every once in a while. it may seem like he's snooping, and 15-year-olds do need their space, but he was making sure she wasn't watching **** or posting nude pictures of herself or planning to meet up with random online strangers. nobody wants their parents snooping around but a little bit of concern is good parenting.
#95 and #96, go be dicks somewhere else, you dont even know what its like for her. christ...
She wasn't watching ****? She's 15, there's nothing wrong with a 15 year old watching ****. I think the FBI would find out pretty soon if she was uploading child **** (you need to be 18, a 15 year old posting a picture of herself is legally the same as a 40 year old posting a picture of her). If you're concerned about your 15 year old daughter meeting up with a stranger she's an idiot or you are. Or a very strange coincidence happened that caused you to think she was an idiot.
Wow. I can't believe all the stupid kids on here going "OMG!!!! im 15 2 and i wuld h8 it if my dad did tht!!!! OMG!!!! u herd of privcy no???!?!?!1!!?" Seriously, children, grow up. As others before me have said, seeing someone's internet history isn't a breach of privacy. It's pretty much like looking at the books on her shelves (or, for those of you that can't read, the DVDs in her collection) to see what she's into. If he had come across something private she wrote online (e.g. a forum, or one of those online diaries) and he had read that then, yes. That would be bad. Speaking as someone who has been 15 and who has had parents occassionally check what sites I visit, I can honestly say that it's not that big a deal. To be honest, when my parents found out the internet had such a huge collection of dead baby jokes, they were ecstatic. OP, that sucks your daughter doesn't want to spend time with you - unfortunately, judging by a lot of the responses here, most kids don't show any respect for their parents who work their arse off trying to support you (God, how old do I sound now?).
hows it a fyl? Atleast shes being considerate of your feelings by trying to find a excuse rather then telling you to go **** yourself, someone might wanna teach her how to delete the history and all the other stuff which leaves traces of what youve viewed / been searching for.
Keywords
YDI for snooping. Give her some space -- she's growing up. ...On the other hand, though, FYL because of what you found.
More like FHL for having you snoop through her history. I bet you've got plenty of stuff you wouldn't want her to see.
