Today, I went to my orthodontist where I was informed that I'll going to the prom, to my brother's wedding, and maybe to university with braces in my mouth. FML

Having braces doesnt suck.. its normal. But what is GOING to suck is actually wearing them. It HURTS like hell .. your lips get BROKEN inside the mouth. The pain lasts for a week. And then every time u meet orthodontist (every month) its going to hurt AGAIN .. for some days. .. I have braces :D

96: what band is that in your picture?? and I had braces for just a year and now my teeth are ******* perfect (: oh and notice how the op didn't say how long she or he will have them... but um brace really are not a big deal.

I think people are missing the point of the FML. It's not FML I'm getting braces. It's FML I have to go through all these important events, some requiring picture taking. I don't think anyone WANTS to go to a dance like prom with braces on. I just turned sixteen, so my mom took me to get a new passport. I have my braces in them. Now, when ever I travel, I'm going to see sixteen year old me with braces on. FML

Obviously, the OP cares. It doesn't matter if it's common. Most people don't want see pictures of themselves with braces from events like prom.

Would you rather be showing a mouthful of crooked teeth in your photo? And hey, I dont know what the rules are like where you are but over here you're not allowed to smile and show teeth in your passport photo...

Having braces is pretty FML, I have to say. I had them for four years through high school, and when I got them off, my teeth still looked awful. If I ever want normal looking teeth, I have to get veneers because apparently, they can't be fixed. So yea, I feel the op's pain.

Not everyone can afford braces so you shouldn't be complaining. You should be happy that you have them because they will be worth it in the end.

not an fml. braces are good, they straighten your teeth. I had them thru my moms wedding, my winter formal, and 2 and a half years. quite whinning!
