Today, I wore my kilt to the university I attend. Getting tired of the stares which I was receiving, I yelled "It's cause its too big to fit in my pants". As soon as the words left my mouth, a gust of wind came and blew my kilt up around my waist, revealing that my previous claim was untrue. FML

Wear a kilt and bitch about being stared at. That's not the way to blend in.

you guys are all stupid, there is a difference between a dress and a kilt, and only men wear kilts

Oh look, one of those stupid kilted jackass college kids finally gets what he deserves. Excellent.

I think you dealt with the situation wonderfully! But maybe you should avoid the kilt in future, it's just not socially acceptable dress in Alabama.

the OP being in Alabama and not actually in Scotland I am going out on a limb here and suggesting it may not be a traditional kilt, but some cheep american knock off... otherwise I would agree with you, else the entire male population of Scotland would have stories like this... "oh, your kilt flew up again?" response: "Yes, Yes... damn near tripped over myself". unless, of course you are the OP.

If you're going to wear a kilt, you have to be expected for the stares. It's cool that you did, but YDI.

So I understand that not wearing underwear under a kilt is tradition. I also understand that kilts (like skirts) can fly up exposing the wearer's genitals and showing your genitals in public is against the law. So I don't really see why any guy would not wear underwear and risk severe humiliation and possibly even being arrested. That's just plain stupid.

Speaking as a Scot, there's a time and place for a kilt. St Andrew's Day - yes, Burn's Night - yes, national football games - yes, hogmanay - yes... university lectures - never..

Come on u knew people would look. My boyfriend is gonna where one for the Irish parade they have every year in New Orleans but it is only bc it's the attire for the float he's on!

he fails then because kilts are Scottish, NOT Irish.

I thought it was funny, but a kilt is not flowing material, so I do not believe it blew up in the wind.
