Today, I wrote the most beautiful college application essay ever, ten minutes before the online deadline. Instead of clicking "submit", I clicked the button next to it that said "return". The entire essay vanished into internet wasteland. FML

ydi for not taking the proper time to write the application. And for writing it in the browser. and for not turning it in earlier.

Learn a lesson, maybe? COPY AND PASTE FROM A DOCUMENT!

fyl for obvious reasons but ydi for not drafting it on word first.

YDI! 1. Type it in Word then Copy + Paste it into the submission box. 2. Why are you submitting your application only TEN MINUTES before the deadline...? Did you even consider the possibility of high incoming traffic on that website towards that time? You could have lagged real bad or even crashed...

How about Ctrl + S. The universal save button.

dude, if you're gonna type something important and long on the internet always remember to COPY AND SAVE!!

Look at the bright side, you just saved a shit load of money by not flunking out...

Simple rule for any online applications: Never type anything longer than a paragraph into an online form. Use Word/OpenOffice.org Writer/Notepad (if that's all you have) then Copy/Paste it in when you're done. If you use Word or Writer you'll even get an instant spell-check before you submit it.

YDI. you should have already have written your letters and WHY THE **** would you EVER write it IN the box they give to you...what the hell is wrong with you? its called word, google document or some other word processor, that way, when retards like you do stupid shit, you still have the document. are you really sure that you are college material. I say again YDI

They could have meant: 1. the button acted as a back button and took them back to the previous screen or 2. they accidently had highlighted the paragraph and then got rid of it To OP - Sucks, but YDI. After all those years of high school and this age of technology, haven't you learned to back up your shit?

1. If you think it's the most beautiful ever, it's probably average at best. Especially if you didn't revise it, which you probably didn't if you wrote it on the web page up to the deadline. It sounds like you rushed and half-assed it. YDI. 2. You should have applied 2 months ago. YDI. 3. You wrote it on the web page instead of a word processor. YDI.

Very likely system broken: most websites request confirmation.
