Today, in the spirit of Halloween and to get back at a child who repeatedly pressed the doorbell until I showed up, I quickly opened the door and yelled "Boo!" The child ended up being carried away crying with wet pants by a mother threatening to sue. FML

When my son was 4 years old, he was walking up to a house to Trick or Treat. An adult dressed up as a monster jumped out of the bushes and scared the hell out of him. I didn't threaten to sue, but I gave him a piece of my mind and nearly my entire fist too. Yeah, I probably would have been sued...

Well, I'm in America and I have never heard anything about anyone demanding money. They wouldn't get any from me. However, since our kids are grown now, we shut off all the lights and head for a night out and a beer with our friends. Trick or Treat, eh.

if you dont want your kid scared, dont let them trick or treat. Better yet, dont have kids

Hey, trick OR treat, right? Kids should get tricked if they're being annoying little *****.

1) The little kid was excited. 2) How come you weren't near your door? It's Halloween, how were you not expecting kids?

1 - Ringing more than once no matter what is rude and obnoxious. 2 - It's very possible that OP didn't have candy to hand out.

Then you turn your lights off. Don't leave lights on and not have candy.

So on Halloween people are automatically expected to either get involved or pause their entire life for everyone else? **** that, she has every right to continue on with her life, ie. leave her light on. That parent should be in the process of teaching her child manners, and OP did the right thing. She didn't ask to have a child butcher her doorbell.

The whole leave your lights off system is flawed these days anyway. . There are tons of houses with no lights on handing out candy and even more with lights on that aren't handing out candy. It's like no one remembers the system anymore. I think they need to come up with little signs or something that you hang if participating. That way no one has to come home to a dark house and kids don't have to keep guessing whether they actually want trick or treat people or wish to be left alone.

Not an FML. Kid got what he deserved and you can't sue someone for scaring your child.

Lol my comment was moderated for telling the truth. Whatever. The kid deserved it and you can't be sued for scaring a child. It's Halloween. Mommy should lighten up.

64 - If you don't mind me asking, where do you live? I'm on my phone app and it doesn't tell me.

Lol! She can't sue for that. It's Halloween. Ring at your own risk! I would have done the same thing! Haha!
