Today, it was my 17th birthday. My mom forgot and my best friend is out of town. The highlight of my day? The guy at McDonald's slipped an extra apple pie in my bag. FML

Today, it's my 18th birthday. Last month was my best friend's 18th birthday. She spent the night with me, and the next morning, my mom and brother gathered in my room and sang "Happy Birthday" as they handed her pancakes with a candle on top. Today, I was woken up by screams to take the trash out. FML

Today, it's my mom's birthday. I woke up at midnight to be the first to tell her happy birthday. When I awoke in the morning, I decided to bake her a cake. Little did I know my whole family was going out to lunch to celebrate. I wasn't invited. FML

Today, I celebrated my birthday with my friend who has the same birthday by going out to dinner with a bunch of our friends. The waiter brought out a cake for my friend but not for me. No one noticed my exclusion. I sang happy birthday on my birthday. FML

Today, I turned 17. My parents completely forgot it was my birthday, and when I reminded them, my dad thought it was my 18th. He was ecstatic and mentioned that I can "finally get the hell out." FML

Today, I missed a call from my mom. It's my birthday, and glad she remembered, I called back to thank her. She was surprised when I brought up going out for dinner, and asked me what the occasion was. FML

By the time you're 17 you shoudn't really be happy about birthdays anyway. The only birthdays you should even care about are 18 and 21. Maybe 35 (I think) if you ever wanna run for president. Also, apple pies are two for one anyway. Happy freakin' birthday.

Happy birthday! :) I sympathize... I'm 17. From my 13th to my 16th birthday, I ended my «birthday» evening -no party- in tears in a corner of my room after a verbal fight with my mom. At my 17th...she left the house, angry again, at 7AM. Plus, she's always confused about the date... That's how life goes, hey. Try to note it on a calendar or somewhere, next year.

Hey, free pie! Don't take it personally. People are busy during at the end of August getting into back-to-school mode. My birthday's on the 30th and people frequently forget; we just end up celebrating a week later or something. :)

it aint... funny it is sad.. i have had this happen to me and i am a severly deppressed person.. so i sat in my room and cried all night till i fell aslepp... and it was my 17th b-day too.... so when it happens to u, it aint funny its sad

I love the lack of reasoning some of you have, yeah they're 2 for $1 at mcdonalds but OP didn't say they got 2 theysaid they an extra one, how would you know they didn't get 3? Although, it would be funny as hell if they got 2.
