Today, it was my first day at my new job. My new boss asked me if I was single. After telling him I have been happily married for 6 years, he fired me on the spot. FML

that's discrimination, it shouldn't matter if your single or not. I was asked if I was married and if I had kids at an interview the other day, but only to see if I had commitments to kids, but I don't.

I would urge you to call your state's Dept. of Labor and report this incident. even if your state allows for termination without cause reporting it may help future wronged employees even if it doesn't help you this time.
