Today, my adorable five and a half year old boy told me that when he grows up he's going to be my boyfriend. I thought it was kinda cute until I asked him why. "Because you need one." FML

The 5 year old doesn't think like we do. Our minds are perverted and know what boyfriends and girlfriends do (have sex); however, the 5 year old doesn't. All he knows is that boyfriends and girlfriends love each other... And is it that wrong that a 5 yr old loves his mom? You people need some serious ******* help.

that's really cute! when I was 5 I used to tell my mother I wanted to marry my two year old brother. I knew nothing about sex or what being married meant, I just knew that I loved him most and that I'd be happy to play with him forever. nothing incestuous. as for the oedipal/elektra complexes-- to quote an old psych professor of mine: "Freud is one letter away from fraud."

Not going to claim it as fact because I don't actually have proof, but wasn't some group doing research about how for the first years of a childs life they have a crush on their parents? Girls like their fathers, boys their mothers. Not in some creepy incest sort of way, but just the connection?
