Why is your bird awake at 3am? Jeez, shut off the lights and cover his cage so he can get some sleep. You deserve it for not taking proper care of your bird.

Birds usually don't fall completely asleep. I have a cockatiel myself and I cover his cage at night but he doesn't manage to stay asleep.

teach your bird police sirens, gun shots, and crazy stuff then get it to mimic them at your will and then use the bird to freak people out

OP, if you don't teach your bird to sing pleasant songs at pleasant times it's bound to mimic something. You just lost this game of Russian roulette. But it's ok. Just leave the window open and you can spend $50 and try again. Buy a cd of bird songs and leave it playing on repeat while you leave for work/school. New bird will learn to sing when it's light out and not when it's dark.
