Today, my boss at my new job described a client as "retarded". I corrected him with "mentally disabled". He smirked and replied "Whatever. Just explain things to her real slow. After all, she's 'mentally disabled'. And a woman." I need this job so bad that I'll have to just put up with this asshole. FML

Today, I realized my coworker can't comprehend English, or any other language. When I mentioned this to a coworker, they accused me of being an ableist. This is the same person who insults him to his face, knowing he can't understand her. FML

Today, my mother who learned English as an adult sent an email to my boss, thanking them for hiring me even though I'm "retarded." I’m a law school graduate who was diagnosed with a minor learning disability in kindergarten, but she still calls me "retarded" when speaking English. FML

That was an excellent display of how to display a sarcastic tone with text. Bravo. May others learn from your example. And that's literally the only good thing I could say about your post. Oh well, can't win them all. I find the unPC crowd hilarious. Talk about oversensitive. Apparently they can't handle someone not jovially laughing at their uncreative use of language :)

That's horrible,I have a brother with special needs so hearing people use the word "retarded" is unacceptable.I think that guy is the mental one!

I think I'm more pissed off that he said "and a woman" because that implies that women are all stupid and have the learning capabilities of a mentally disabled person. Not being rude to those who are, because that's wrong, but they do need the time and care to learn things.
