Today, my boss discovered that I'm prone to random fainting, due to hypoglycemia. He has now nicknamed me "Fainting Goat" and makes relentless bleating noises every time he sees me. FML

That's really un-fair of him. You can't help what you have and he should, as your boss, support you, not make fun of you for something you can't control.

Get a lawyer and own the company. That's uncalled for.

Why A Goat? Still I Guess Thats Better Than An Animal That Can Play Dead...

You should tell your boss to stop if it's bothering you. If he doesn't stop, tell a manager or something, and if that doesn't work, don't work for him.

Drink some oj! Maybe help with the fainting

It says on your ID line that you're in the USA. You might want to read up on the Americans with Disabilities Act. What he's doing is illegal.

That is your condition and you need to control it. You're a liability and he at least is keeping you. I have type 1 diabetes and I can either have hyper or hypo at any given time. I get teased and make jokes myself. Take care of yourself and don't be so sensitive.

They cannot discriminate against someone for an illness like that. If they fired them it would be a lawsuit. If their condition makes performing the job dangerous the most the boss could do would be to relocate them. The bosses behavior constitutes harassment in just about any workplace. If it really bothers the person they need to first report it to HR. Talking to your boss about it is a good way to get fired.

Ask him to stop - tell him he may think it's funny, but it's upsetting for you and you don't think it's showing a very professional attitude on his part. If the asshole refuses to stop, take his sorry butt to a tribunal.

I have hypoglycemia, too. Thought I was the only one!! I know the struggle and that's mean of him to make fun of it. Don't worry OP. You'll be okay:)

As a Type 1 diabetic myself, I would take offense at his statement. Perhaps a small joke to you in private would be different, but this? Personally, I would talk to him first. Even if you don't want to do it...you have to. I would wait his response then I would tell him I'm also going to speak to HR. See how THAT suit fits him. You can sound polite when you talk to him, but certain words carry more meaning than others, so think out your 'speech' before you give it. If his behaviors continue after that, you are perfectly within your bounds to seek legal council. You have spoken to him & HR already, thereby 'covering your a**' so the next step is to lawyer up. I've dealt with similar things myself, so I'm just trying to give you a clue, but each situation is different... If someone earns any kind of nickname at work, it should be performance related, not

Your boss is a quick wit to be sure (sarcasm)
