Today, my boyfriend of 2 years decided to tell an unimaginably rude joke to my grandma while at my house. She hit him over the head with a vase, and he's threatening to press charges. I still don't know whose side to take. FML

Well, your boyfriend seems like an asshole for wanting to press charges, however granny didn't need to hit him over the head with a vase. Perhaps everyone can sit down and settle things like adults? Hopefully this will teach your boyfriend to keep his rude jokes to himself!

First of all, you may want to consider breaking up with this clown. If he can't see how inappropriate this behavior is after two years, he isn't going to figure it out down the road. Save yourself time and energy, but not wasting it on him. Second, your grandmother, however offended, does NOT have the right to whack people over the head with a vase. If she did (and if everyone else did) Mitt Romney, Barrack Obama, and countless other politicans would also be in the same condition your boyfriend is... whacked by a vase. Op, perhaps you should hang around more mature people...

It's sickening as to how many people are condoning the violence. It was a joke. No matter how rude, a VASE was too much. She could've killed him if it was hard enough and depending on what it was made out of. Would he still deserve it then?
