Today, my boyfriend of 7 years broke up with me in a text message. Then I found out from a mutual friend that he "came out" and told everyone at our school that he is gay. He has known he was gay for years and he was just using me as a cover up. What a great way to start my senior year. FML

Because in college you don't go around "telling everyone in school." Everyone is in different buildings at different times for the most part and hardly ever cross paths unless they are in a class together, the student union or a student organization. If this is in fact about college, the OP is sort of creepy and immature to go around telling everyone that he's gay. Just join the freaking common ground group.

If you started dating him at 10 years old, you can't really complain that he wasn't in touch with his homosexuality. It takes time to fully accept/realise it - he really wouldn't have had a clue at that stage. So yeah, it sucks, but YDI. Didn't you realise in 7 YEARS after he had not shown any physical attraction/affection towards you?

Am I the only one who's aware of the fact that gay men sleep with women too? He was probably just confused or had some a-hole family member or religious zealot on his back all the time about it. And did he go around with a megaphone or did he just tell people when they asked him? *shrugs* Either way, get over it and find someone else.

To all who say "you should have realized before": it's not that easy to tell. Don't you remember the numerous FMLs here where people complain that everyone around thinks they are gay, while they aren't?

Aw. Don't worry, you're young. By the time you're done, you will have turned a lot of guys gay. While it is generally believed that most gay people are born that way, there exists the possibility that there are women with whom sex is so disgusting and unpleasant that otherwise straight men suddenly prefer butt-sex with other smelly, sweaty, hairy men.
