the real story is that she was a batshit obsessive ex so in order to protect his girlfriend from getting her eyes ripped out he had to lie and refer to her as just a friend and then exchange phone numbers as an attempt at escaping from this situation. We would have heard more about this had she not been posting on FML as soon as she heard "a friend".
