Today, my boyfriend set up a very romantic dinner. Afterwards, he offered to wash the dishes while I went upstairs and relaxed. His way of washing the dishes was to scrape all the food off, then wipe the juices off the dishes with a paper towel before putting them back in the cupboards. FML

He offered and told her to relax. If your SO wants to do something nice for you, why not let him? The implication is that she washes the dishes every other time (else she would probably would have noticed his method before) so why does she have to offer to do them when he specifically tells her not to? OP, you had a nice evening and your bf made a thoughtful gesture. Next time you're washing up, involve him so he can learn how it's done. Big gestures are great but it's the everyday that matters most.
