Hopefully he's keeping it a secret by "selling" it so he can propose!
I don't think that is likely.
It may be a surprise for you later on? He sells it, buys a better one, then proposes to you? Think positive!
It's learning!
What I want to know is if the ring was the only prize or if he won it unintentionally, hoping he'd get one of the other prizes. If he entered a competition in which the prize was the ring, I can understand OP's feelings, as you'd expect someone who tries to win a nice engagement ring to actually use it. However if he was aiming for something else and won the ring instead, then you can't really expect him to propose to you.
Some FML's, like this one, desperately need a "get over it" button. Sometimes your life really does suck, and sometimes you're just being a whiny brat. Think about it, who wants to get engaged just because he won a ring? Wouldn't you be forever wondering if thats the only reason he popped the question? Either way, other peoples lives suck a whole lot more!
Don't worry OP. There's no market for reselling engagement rings. He'll be lucky if he gets enough $$ to take you out for dinner.
No market? Rings are worth their component price all day long. If its a diamond speck sure it's worthless but if it's a 2 carat single stone then it will sale for a few thousand all day long to any jeweler or pawnshop.
Maybe not as an engagement ring but gold and diamonds are always marketable.
I'm guessing the competition was "win a ring to propose to your girlfriend". It is a very specific prize so I doubt he won it by accident. I doubt the competition promoters meant for it to be won by someone with no intention of getting engaged.
What kind of competition would have an engagement ring prize and not be wedding related -.-
If he won a funeral plot, would you expect him tp murder you?

He is not obligated to propose just because he won a ring. Sorry
Maybe he isn't ready for marriage
