Today, my dad bought me a new laptop for my birthday. That's because he wants to use my old laptop for work, which is more expensive, has better specs, runs faster, and has a wider screen than my new computer. I just got a downgraded laptop as my birthday present. FML

Don't give him your old laptop! Keep both. It's a gift, not an exchange.

Why are people so unnecessarily NASTY about FMLs? So what if the OP got a laptop...it doesn't make them spoiled. I would be a little annoyed if I got a laptop and a.) Found out it was an exchange, not a gift and b.) it wasn't as good as the one I had previously. There are all ranges of FML on here...just because they're not ALL from impoverished orphans who get dumped at the altar, doesn't make the other OPs any less deserving. RE-LAX!

Why is everyone treating this guy like he's a criminal for having a laptop? If you don't have something, don't go blaming everyone else, calling them spoiled, and having a pity party about it! Either suck it up, or do something about it other then name-calling and complaining!

I can see it now 'Today, I posted that my dad wants to take my laptop on FML. Everyone called me spoiled for having one. FML'

Just keep your own laptop and give him the new one. I don't see why he can't buy a good one for himself

Obviously don't let him get away with that bullshit.

Spoiled because of a new laptop? It took us months, but my son received a very good laptop as a birthday/graduation present. I hated to combine his gifts like that, but there was no way to buy a second gift. The surprise and gratitude he showed proves that he is not spoiled just because he received a nice gift.

You better have said no! My dad ever pulls that, I'm neutering him because my current laptop is my mother's and survives as well as a Nokia on steroids. This thing has been thrown into a bathtub by my younger brother, knocked off of desks and flipped over my back when I tripped while it was in my bag. That, and my mother is no longer with us and ideas a gift from her to me. Don't let your dad do that to you if it's supposed to be a present.
