At 17 you still have school, which you have to be up early for. It's not healthy to not get enough sleep (I have SEVERE headache from anything less that 6-7 hours) and especially at that age while you are still developing and growing, sleep is important. If you are out all night you then have the choice of no where near enough sleep and compromise your health, or skip school and compromise your future. Maturity is knowing how to take care of yourself, and if you're throwing fits about not being able to stay out, you're not mature enough.
But this is just you?... Some people prefer to sleep little amounts, also no one said anything about staying out on weekdays??? This is about a computer tablet or some sort of gadget computer..
I'm seventeen too. I'd love for my curfew to be elevenPM, instead of having my parents call me five times as soon as it gets dark outside. F MY life, not yours.
If it's the dad's comp. then I could see a restriction being put on it. Honestly, after 11 a.m. anything you're looking up is probably crap they don't want you doing on their computer. If it's yours, look into resetting passwords in safe mode; problem solved. If it's a physical curfew, it all depends on how much you pull your own weight and what legal restrictions are in your area. They can't kick you out until 18, if I'm not mistaken, so taking a few risks to gtfo and have some fun is ok, but if you're a free-loading adult, cross your T's and dot your I's and deal with it. If you're over 18 and pulling your weight, try and talk with them. If you're acting like an adult and they're treating you like a child, then speaking to them like an adult is the best way, just don't be whiny or anything and it should be cool.
IS IT your computer ?? Just because it's in your room, or you're the only person who knows how to use it, doesn't make it yours. I PAID for my computer, so if my mom tried to pull that, I'd go apeshit.. but only because what I PAY FOR is mine.
Sorry, that book you got for your birthday isn't actually yours. You didn't pay for it so you should give it back.
I pity americans, really. I'm 14 and I usually go to bed around 12 o'clock on a school day. I'm always on my pc at night.
I pity Americans to honestly. I live in the us, but spent the summer living in Europe. I completely agree with their laws, in Germany instead of making the driving age 16 and drinking 21, drinking is 16 and driving is 25, therefore there is significantly less DUI and alcohol related crimes by introducing it at a younger age
what is there for a 17 year old to do past 11? especially if you live in the states... your not legal for drinking or anything until you're 21 so therefore cant go to lots of places that are open past 11 pm.. haha
Oh I don't know... Movies, driving around, enjoying being 17 and staying out, even if it's just chillin at a friends house with their parents watching the movie with you?
Same here. But I managed to get 'round it. My advice? Learn his password.
oh please, I had a curfew of MIDNIGHT until I was 21. FML.
I had a 10 o'clock curfew until I decided to move out and get my own place at 18. You're dumb.

Did you guys read the first line about parental controls? The 11PM curfew is on the computer, not for staying out. (And is kind of ridiculous btw.) Chillax people.
