Today, my daughter's obsession with Canada got out way of hand when she was suspended for climbing up the flagpole, in an attempt to replace the flag with a red-and-white maple leaf one. FML

OP here. I made an account so I could follow up. For those of you doubting my parenting: in my household, no banshee-like deed goes unpunished. Yes, this was a school suspension, for those unsure, and it was three weeks, which is pretty reasonable. Sadly, this is a continuation jr. high school for kids who've been permanently expelled (I'm surprised no one asked why she's still in school during the summer), where banshee-like behaviors such as this are not rare.

She has passion for something that's not drugs or sex. Be proud.

You had one job as a parent OP... Keep her off the pole. And you just couldn't do that, now could you?

She doesn't happen to be a member of certain nation centric anime fandom does she...?

I almost feel that is what it is. My cousin is so obsessed with Russia that she dresses like him and fakes a painful Russian accent all the time. I regret showing her anime. I really do.

The Hetalia fandom is painfully obsessed.

Corrupt_waffles 13

I'm painfully oppressed by that fandom.

Our obsession is our drive, What would I do without my Japan?! Kikuuuuuuuu XD

Oh god. Oh god. I'm a history/politics/geography nut, so I watch the show and read the comics, but I seriously do not understand people like that.

Sometimes kids get suspended on purpose because they wanna take off hoser.

'Anada lol but wow she was determined

i dont get why she would be trying to climb the pole. why not just lower the flag, eh?

Often flagpoles have their cranks removed after they're raised. Common sense.

...not sure that you understand what 'common sense' means, which is ironic because it´s actually fairly common sense. common sense is something obvious that everyone should be able to deduce easily, with out needing to be told, such as don´t stare directly at the sun. knowing that a flagpole has a crank (normally you just see the flag being run up a pulley system where you simply pull on the rope) and on top of this that said crank can be removed is a much more specific and specialized nugget of information that i highly doubt most people would know, especially if they have never raised a flag.
