Today, my grandmother patched up my $300, vintage, limited edition, designer jeans because she thought I'd accidentally ripped them. FML

well thats what you get for buying $300 jeans.

Maybe now you can reflect on how absurd it is to spend $300 on Jeans that are ripped, simply because they are "trendy"...

....why would you spend 300 dollars on jeans that are ripped...? I wish I had 300 dollars to pay for photo supplies, and 5 pairs of GOOD ******* jeans.

The difference between the jeans in question and laptops, cell phones, and cars is that the latter are infinitely more useful and versatile. $300 jeans don't do anything differently than their $50 counterpart except make you look like a tool, so it's a ripoff. Even the shittiest of laptops will set you back a good $300-400, and laptops are multipurpose devices. A good cell phone does more than just make calls, they're mp3 players, cameras, and internet devices. And anyone who thinks cars are wastes are just stupid hippies are are too young to even know how to drive. There simply is no justification for such clothing purchases. If you want to spend that much on clothes, it's your money; you open yourself up to criticism and antagonism though and should suck it up, douchebags.

HA HA HA HA HA HA FAIL.....

dude your grandma was doing a nice thing for you thats worth more than pre ripped 300 dollar designer jeans plus she saved you from looking like a complete tool so honestly, go thank her

LMAO, that would suck. But you know, you could just pull the stitching out. Go to a fabric store and buy a stich breaker thing. That's easy to fix.

I remember that I had a pair of jeans that I wore religiously for a couple years, until they developed a couple of holes. Which wouldn't be a huge deal, but one was in the crotch, so, I had to toss them. When I got home from class one day a week later, I came across my grandma patching them shut. Now I can still wear my awesome jeans. So the hierarchy here goes My Grandma>Your Grandma>Me>You.

FIRST OFF, the OP never says he/she is mad at/resents/doesn’t love/doesn’t appreciate his/her grandmother. I’m sure the OP realizes that his/her grandmother had good intentions in patching up the jeans. The whole reason this is a great FML is because the action that ruined the jeans was done in good faith. It’s the irony of the situation that makes it suck (kind of like that classic short story about the woman who sells her hair so that she can buy a chain for her husband's pocket watch, only to find that her husband had sold his watch to buy her haircombs). Secondly, (I know this point has been made already) but why is (almost) everyone getting all bent out of shape over the concept of spending a little bit of money on something nice? If you like it and you can afford it, why wouldn’t you buy it? It may not be YOUR personal choice to spend $300 on a pair of jeans, but if you call someone ELSE dumb for spending THEIR money on something THEY value, then you must be either ignorant or jealous (and most likely hypocritical, because I’m sure almost everyone here spends/has spent money on something they don’t absolutely need). Buying expensive jeans does not make you vain, selfish, or a douche; buying cheap jeans does not make you unstylish, broke, or corny. People need to stop equating income and personal taste with morality and personality. ALSO, I like how none of the people who think the OP is an arrogant, unloving grandchild have tried to defend their point of view against those who actually made a logical point (namely, #79, #93, and #97). This is probably because you know your arguments are illogical and biased. #108: just in case YOU didn’t read the rest of the messages, it’s been clearly established that neither you, nor anyone else, is in any position to decide what something is worth to someone else.

OP, most of my jeans are actually more than $300 but id NEVER buy ripped vintage jeans for 300. youre obviously not getting the trend right and need help figuring out where to buy clothes. the expensive ripped jean fad is as over as juicy sweatsuits... really your grandma did you a favor so now you dont have to be embarrassed and if i were you i would keep this little FML to yourself.
