Today, my heating broke. It's 22 degrees outside, and my father won't let us call someone to fix it because apparently the cold helps the soul grow. FML

Today, like always, my parents are such tightwads that they refused to turn the heating system on, despite the ball-freezing temperatures. I was so cold, I had to resort to warming my hands up over the toaster. FML

Today, my furnace and all of my heating systems broke down. A fridge is 3 degrees Celsius; it is now 2 degrees Celsius in my house. I would be warmer in my fridge. FML

Today, we're both sick, the heating hasn’t been working for 3 days, yet the repair company refuses to fix it because some technicality is not up to current regulations. Right on time, we’re also about to be hit by a cold spell, promising sub-zero temperatures. FML

Today, my parents went on holiday, finally, and since I’m always freezing I took the opportunity to actually turn up the temperature on the boiler. Not 30 seconds later my dad called pissed and told me either I turn it back down or he’s coming home from Spain to kick my ass. FML

Today, my window got busted and won't shut properly. I live in a college dorm room and maintenance says they can't fix it for a couple of days. It's below freezing in my dorm and I can see my breath while trying sleep. FML

Today, my mom made me go shopping with her. It was freezing out, but she didn't wear a coat, boasting that she doesn't feel the chill like I do. By the time we drove home she was whining about freezing to death, and now I'm stuck in a house whose heating is set to "inferno". FML

Today, I can't get my heat to turn off. It is currently 87 degrees Fahrenheit in my house, and my heat is running non-stop. It's about 20 degrees outside with over a foot of snow on the ground, so a repairman can't come out to fix it. My electricity bill will be about $1000. FML

If it's cold enough inside that it gets dangerous (and not merely uncomfortable) you can point out that he's committing child endangerment and threaten to call the authorities. If you have very young siblings, you have a moral obligation to do so for their sake.

Grow a Butt load of Body Hair! You'll be like a Walking, Talking, Warm, Harry, Human Blanket. but serioussly 20" Degrees is not that bad for most people. it's in the Single Digits (1-9 Degrees) on a regular bases where I live and I still Wear Short Sleeves. And I turn off the Heat and Turn up the Air Conditioning. But I'm weird like that. I can't survive in the Heat. it must be cold for me at all times!

If its that cold and the heat is broken, tell him he'll have to deal with frozen pipes that might burst (aka EXPENSIVE TO FIX) if he does not get someone in here to fix the heat. If your mom is still there, have HER call and put her foot down.
