Today, my mom and I got the answer to the question, "Is our dog really dumb enough to jump out of the window of a moving vehicle?" The answer: Yes. FML

Hey! Just to start, my dog is absolutely fine. So, we think she may have stepped on the button to lower the window without us realizing before it was too late. No worries, though we were driving fairly slowly after just pulling out of the school parking lot. For anyone wondering the breed, she is a beagle!

Not all dogs are smart.. Why was the window open wide enough for it to jump out? You're responsible for your dog. Hope he/she is okay!

Seems to me you got a dog that likes to run...per se...

wow what a great dog owner you are hope you don't try it again when you have kids

Yikes! Looks like someone needs to relax here! Dogs are smart creatures. Because he figured out how to escape doesn't make that the owner's fault. Maybe preventive measures could have been taken, but it would have happened at some point.

My beagle jumped out of a side by side while out on a trail. He was tied in with a leash luckily it was hooked to a harness not his collar and he just had to run on his hind legs for second.

as a responsible pet owner. you wouldnt leave the window down so the dog can jump out. but at then end of the day you shouldnt own a pet.

Dear god read the OP comment. Dog rolled the window down itself.

Maybe the dog was just trying to escape from the two of you... Finally saw his chance!

one of my dogs did the same thing

This is aimed at the "you shouldn't be a dog owner or parent losers: Ok people, chill the F out. Seriously? It wasn't like they THREW the dog out the window. They may not have a window lock in their car and the OP did say they were pulling out of a school parking lot which means lots of people and an excited dog. So he must have accidentally hit the window button wanting to sniff everything since they said it was a beagle. Apparently you've never been dog owners if you don't know that SIMPLE fact that dogs get excited. End rant. -.-

Oh, and you could be the most attentive parent in the world and still something happen to your child, it only takes a second. I could go on forever.
