Today, my mother-in-law grounded me because I went to the store in the "dangerous" rain. My husband says that if I don't obey then we won't work out. FML

Today, my normally very modest and prissy mom came home, pissed off about something. I asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn't say, and snapped at me to "fuck off". She then grounded me for "making" her use that kind of "vile language". FML

Today, I was grounded for not agreeing with an article on dating my mom found in a very strict magazine. The article told parents to monitor phone calls, make rumors about their children cheating on people and not allow their children anywhere but home. FML

Today, my mother asked me if my boyfriend and I were getting serious. I quickly lied and said no. She then informed me that if things ever heated up, she would take me to get birth control. Wanting birth control, I confessed. In turn she grounded me. I'm not allowed to see my boyfriend anymore. FML

I second this. OP, either put your foot down, gfto or expect a life time of groundings. From your Mother-in-Law. As an adult. This is so bad that it's not even funny. BUT, I warn you, if you go through with the marriage and keep posting FMLs about your crazy mother in law no one will sympathize with you cause it'll be a YDI. Get out NOW, before your life, and FML empathy is ruined forever!

My future mother-in-law seems like this at times (she really wants to have her hand in mine and my fiance's life. For example, rather than us becoming independent and having our own apartment, she wants us both to live in her basement until we are married (2+ years from now).
