Show it anywaySomeone had a sad childhood... Dogs are the best!
Im not a dog person but what are you talking about, people can have dogs if they want! just shut up
Disgusting? Oh well then I'm just plain gross because I have four. You do know there are other cultures that accept dogs as pets, right? Stop being an asshat.
That is on a new level of disgusting. Speaking on the topic of dogs, I got a new dog we crate him at night cause he likes to piss in the house when we sleep. Now, when we try to sleep at night he howls, bum rushes his crate, and digs at the door.... All night. Were at the breaking point of re-releasing him back on the street. Does anyone have a suggestion that works...
Don't adopt random dogs off the street?
First of all, limit his water intake. Only give him water when he eats until he is completely trained. Feed him dinner at 6 at the latest, and put him outside 45 minutes after he eats to use the bathroom. Put him out again before you go to bed to completely empty his bladder. You should give a treat every time he goes in the crate, and put the crate where he can still see you. (in your bedroom) he might have cage anxiety. Oh and don't just let him loose on the street if you decide to get rid of him! But try to work with him! He loves you.
Wtf, I hope you're joking about "re-releasing" him into the street. Doesn't sound like you care much about your dog. Why don't you just train him with love and care and teach him not to pee in the house at night like Challan said :). I've had several dogs and never had that problem, only when they were small puppies of course. Anyway, how would you like to be locked up alone in a small cage every night?!
Not every dog is an indoor pet. You may need to put a fence in the backyard and let the kids play with it outside. This is obviously your first dog. Not all dogs should be given free access to a bowl full of water. Putting water in their food and letting it soak is a great way to regulate how much they drink. It is also very good for their stomach to eat dog food that is at least partly expanded. Have heard situations where dogs guts exploded because their owner fed them too much and the dog started to drink. If you can't solve your dogs problem, look for some local dog training clubs. People that train dogs are better prepared to advice you than random people off FML.
Let the dog sleep In the room with a family member. Sheets can be washed, floors vacuumed and swept, and people can shower in the morning if need be. Your dog will be sleeping through the night before you know it. Don't turn it out. Dogs get dropped at my house all the time by thoughtless owners who have grown tired of them. It is getting hard to find good homes for them as I have all I can afford to take care of properly.
Guys were talking about a midget Maltese dog. A sister picked him up off the street and got him to a vet. Her place doesn't allow animals, so we took him in to prevent a shelter that most likely kill him. And he's got separation anxiety bad. Thank you #40 and # 55 for giving me some actual advice and not talking shit I appreciate it. And I'll try what you suggest.
And because it is a midget Maltese that makes it ok to turn it back loose on the streets. If you can't care for it at least have the decency to take it to the shelter, please. Dogs turn up at my house in the country with wounds and starved to death because of being "turned loose".
*half starved
I have a 6 month old shih-tzu she's a real hand full but #40s advice is really good...you could also maybe try what I did to potty train her, since I've had to change her "bathroom" 3 times and it obviously got confusing for her and since most tiny dog breeds don't respond well to punishment but they do respond to encouragement...I started to put her in a kennel, in my room where she could see me, she could only come out to eat and go to the bathroom outside, after 2days she got it and know goes outside...hope this helps, don't give up on your doggy, they are really sweet creatures and take a lot less to learn than we do. p.s. if training her to go outside, take her out a couple times a day if its in doors message me, my puppy is also trained for indoors :)
I've owned dogs all of my life & it sounds like this is a common problem. You have to crate train them. First off, you say that you have a small dog. How big is the crate it's in. Dogs like crates that aren't oversized for their size so they feel comfort & safe. Second of all, take a washcloth or a towel that you don't care much for & rub it on your arm to put your sent on it so the puppy can still smell you when it's in it's crate alone at night. Also have a toy or two and a bed so the puppy is comfortable. When crate training a dog, you have to teach it that it has to be quiet in it. When we got my most recent dog at six weeks old, it took we about a week to become crate trained. During the day when your not playing with them & at nights, put them in the crate & leave them in there. They'll make tons of noise & yelp a lot but eventually they'll give up with it & realize that whining & scratching wont get them out. (trust me on this, I've had my fair share of dogs). Once they've quit yelping & stuff, reward them. Give her a treat, play with them, etc. I also agree with feeding them at 6 at the latest, I don't, however, agree with the limited amount of water. During the day if you keep the dog in the crate, take them outside to potty every 2-3 hours. Before you go to bed, TAKE HER OUTSIDE & MAKE SURE SHE GOES POTTY & as soon as you get back inside put her straight in the crate so she has an empty bladder. As soon as you wake up in the mornings, take her back outside to potty again. Crate training a dog will benefit it in the long run, like when you go on vacation & you board your dog, they'll already be crate trained. It's just helping the dog out in the long run. Whatever you do, DO NOT put it back out on the streets, it's just like taking care of a baby, you wouldn't drop a baby off on the streets. If you really don't want her, give her away to a good home or an animal shelter where she can be adopted. Smaller dogs have less chance on the streets then big dogs. Sorry for witting so much, but I'm an animal lover & hope you decide to keep her.
Epic.
Or if they were curs, reCursion.
