Today, my parents came to visit me at the ranch I work at. They're scared to death of horses, but I was explaining how they are almost completely harmless. I was showing them how to work around the horse without getting kicked. As they relaxed, the horse kicked me. I now have a broken leg. FML

That sucks. Something similar happened to me once. I was in my playset, showing one of the neighborhood kids how safe and not scary it was up on the upper level and in the covered slide, when I got attacked by a hive of wasps who had made their home up there.

hey everyone, latkematzoball has a gigantic stick up his butt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! happy??

That sucks. I won't say you deserved it, because no one does, but honestly it was your own fault. If you got kicked, especially hard enough to break your leg you weren't being safe and you certainly weren't paying attention. Horses are largely unpredictable and you should always be paying attention to them. @31: It's possible, but the signs of a horse about to strike with a front leg are even more noticeable than a horse about to kick out with a rear leg. And definitely easier to avoid.

To the people who say horses are harmless, this is rubbish, they CAN be, when they want to be. If you dont have a healthy, realistic, fear of them you shouldnt get on them. I also work on a ranch, and while we tell our "dude's" that they're in control, they're not. The horse is a big animal. It will act like an animal, while you can reduce the risks of being hurt by studying (Equine physchology helps) you can never stop the possibility of something unpredictable happening. The FML could have just walked behind the wrong horse on the wrong day. Hopefully they wernt like my boss. Who tied two horses close together after I told them they didnt get along. He said they'd be fine. He started grooming one, the other horse quickly kicked out at it and got him instead. Justice served. (one of the few times I'm glad for a horse kicking.) And Gallawaygirl, the average foal definatly does NOT weigh that much until nearly 10 months. The average weight of a very young foal is 100 lbs. 19, You are never supposed to walk behind horses IF you dont have them/ride them often. If you know how to read a horse's mood you're usually fine. Although I have an abused mare who would literally give little to no warning before kicking. (She's better now)

One of the best illustrations on FML to date. Bravo.

This drawing is so cute :D I love the horse. And im sorry your leg was broken.

Cute illustration. For once there's both a good drawing and lacking another five panels longer than necessary to tack on bullshit in an attempt to be funny.

well, I think horses are beautiful, noble and kind animals, you really had terrible luck, maybe you didn't notice and something startled him ? get well

I've ridden horses all my life. My horse has never kicked me, and I can do pretty much whatever I want to him, he's very sweet like most horses are. But while schooling an ex racehorse he got spooked and I fell off and underneath him. I got my nose broken, and he stepped on my stomach, knee, back, and arm. Nothing else was broken, and I didn't have any internal bleeding. And that was 1000 pounds directly on top of me. Most of the time kicks leave bruises and that's it, the horse must have been extremely aggressive to break your leg.

I agree, to get a broken leg must have meant a big horse or one that is very strong. Original Poster must have spooked it or the parents did.
