Today, I found out two of my rats are pregnant. The breeder told us that all of them were male, only one ended up being male. I now have 20+ rat babies on the way and no idea how to take care of them. FML

Today, my dad killed my pet rats. They were playing on the sofa, and he thought they were vermin. This would have been understandable if the reason he came over wasn't to meet them, and they hadn't been wearing bright pink walking harnesses. FML

Today, my hamster gave birth. The babies were very cute and I couldn't resist petting one. Apparently touching a baby hamster will cause it's mother to reject and devour it. I am now know in my family as "The Hamster Slaughterer." FML

Today, I was cleaning off my couch so my nephew could crash here for a few nights. It's been so long since we've sat on it that it is now inhabited by rats we didn't know were in the house, including newly-born ones. FML

Today, my hamster had babies. I came home just in time to witness her kick the mutilated bodies of her two babies out of her house, then crawl back in and go to sleep. Now my sister refuses to touch her and calls her a "baby-eating demon." FML

They probably have a rat because they make excellent pets. A lot of people don't know it, but rats are some of the best pets there are. They are affectionate and loving and actually enjoy human company if raised well and gently. Many of them also litter-train themselves and females at least are much cleaner than dogs are. Male rats tend to get a little oily but they love to cuddle. The only downfall to them as pets is that they don't live that long. They really make it worth it while they are around though.

Parthenogenesis does not occur in mammals without help from scientists. Mammals, including rats, do not reproduce asexually.
