Today, my son turned 8. We watched as he unwrapped a $55 Nerf gun, extra 'bullets', new shoes and a school bag with his favorite TV character on the front and a action figure inside. As he finished he looked me straight in the eyes and says, "That's great ma, but seriously what'd you get me?". FML

YDI, for raising your child to be ungrateful. I'd tell him that he can either apologized and say thank you or we can take a trip back to the store and return all the gifts because that's what they are. Entitled little brat, that's what's wrong with kids these days.

I'm sorry but you raised your child to expect material things so its your fault. Yes, you got multiple "gifts" but no 8 year old would consider shoes or school supplies a good present. Those are life necessities you should be purchasing for your son anyway. The nerf gun can be fun, but only if your child has a friend that also has one to play with. It's not the amount of money you spent that makes this your fault. It's the lack of thought in gifts.

Surely you put him in his place? If you didn't, ydi

You raised him.. No one to blame but yourself.

And that's what happens when you spoiled your kids too much.

He probably thought the shoes and backpack were jokes.
