Today, my stepmom asked me to bake pies for a dinner party she was having. Since I love baking, I said yes. When I went to deliver the pies, I found out they were for a family dinner I wasn't invited to. FML

You should make her a cream pie, which you can then shove in her face.

Well, now you know how to answer the next time she asks for a favor.

You should keep them all for yourself now

Cakes, pies—is any confection NOT a lie anymore?!

Well to be fair it is your "Step" mum. Was it actually your family having the dinner or hers?

I don't think it matters if she is the "stepmom". When she married OPs father two families became one, regardless of blood relation.

I wouldn't take my step child to a dinner with only my family members. The step child would have to have been part of the family for a very long time or from a young age. If they refer to her as their step mum then I doubt this is the case.

Give her the bill then. Say you were under the impression she was hiring you since you weren't invited.

I'm so sorry that you're family isn't accepting of you for whatever reason. Honestly, as hard as it may be, maybe you should just cut them out of your life for a while until they realize what they're missing out on. Good luck OP.

@22 You would seriously cut your family out of your life because your stepmother didn't invite you to ONE dinner party? I feel bad for your family.

I hope you left with the pies. They don't deserve your delicious desserts.

If you've seen/read The Help, then I know what you should do ;)

that's when I would've turned right around, pies in hand, and left.
