Today, my wife tried to refill the windshield wiper fluid on her own. However, she poured it where the oil goes. Now the car is having major issues. Last week I lost my job, and I have no idea how much this is going to cost to fix. FML

Ok, this is what you need to do: drain whatever sludge is in your oil pan right now and replace it with new oil. That should fix your problem.

Not entirely true, the damage is probably already done. Even if its not when you change the oil there will still be some windshield fluid left.

No, you need to get rid of the oil/water emulsion that has formed. It will look like caramel right about now. Best way to do it is put a 50:50 mixture of sugar and diesel into the fuel tank and run her up to, oh, i don't know, about 50 in first gear for about 20 mins.

Dump the oil. Let it drain for 20 minutes. Change the filter. Fill (to recommended capacity) with cheap oil. Pour in a can of Oil System Cleaner by Nulon (Part number: WOS). Run the engine for 20 minutes. Dump the cheap oil. Let it drain for 20 minutes. Change the filter again. Fill with new oil.

Thats not too bad, at least she tried instead of immediately giving up and having you do it. Theres plenty of intelligent people that are just total dunces when it comes to vehicles or technology. As for your car, all you should really need to do is drain the oil, and clean all of that shit out. If you have any sense, all it'll cost is the price of the new oil to put in once the mess it cleaned up. Avoid driving it until you do, or you might make things worse. Don't know how to do an oil change? Well, you have the internet. Take a few hours, google it, figure it out. If you're blind and have no hands, it shouldn't cost more than 30$ to have a shop do an oil change, depending on the shop you go to. Good luck!

Yeah, all that I fine and dandy, UNLESS she poured it in the oil and drove it, THAT my friend is a completely different story. Then there will be much bigger problems. I assure you.

If she drove it u could need new cam and crank bearings, new rings, and rebore it could over $10 grand but more likely around $3-4 grande depending on how long it was run

Good luck getting an oil change under $30..... Buying the oil and filter and doing it yourself would almost cost that much

Positive discrimination!!! You ,as a woman ,are saying that women shouldn't mess with cars. Feminists hate you don't they

Um I sure as hell usually do that stuff, as I am not a slovenly man-dependent dumbass. I want to see your car break down in the middle of nowhere and just sit back an watch how you'd react when there isn't a man around to help you. I bet it'd be fantastic.

Oh, what, does your ****** get in the way of you doing something for yourself? Mine doesn't.

I gotta say...a woman who sits back and let's men take care of every little thing is a bit silly We aren't around men 24/7 so why not learn to do simple vehicle and even electrical maintenance ourselves or at least KNOW how to do it so we arent ****** when our car breaks down 80 miles from the nearest house with no cell service or no onstar.

I had a panic attack the first time I got a flat and called my dad for help. After that I made a point of learning the basics of my car so that I won't ever be dependant on someone for something minor that goes wrong. If you want to be "rescued" for the rest of your life that's your issue, don't make it other peoples.

60-thank you! I totally agree. One time I pulled over to help another woman with a flat, and she was a hysterical mess, and completely amazed that I, a woman, could change her tire, in heels no less. I almost wanted to leave her there to teach her a lesson.

This is why they should make a Blonde proof car. Seriously. Problem solved. Perhaps easier said than done though...

#66 thanks, totally dumb joke. No wonder I didn't get it at first.

HAHA, IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE CARS ARE NOT NORMALLY FOUND IN KITCHENS HAHAHA- /facepalm

She can't read a picture of an oil can? I'm surprised she was able to pop the hood.

this has been posted before. just an fyi.

Wow. Your wife is an idiot. They clearly label caps to say oil and coolant and washer fluid. I'm surprised she was able to get the hood open!
