Today, on my way to Burger King I got into a heated discussion with my wife about our cats. We have 15 rescues, and I've reached my limit. Guess what came running up to my car while waiting in the drive-through. We named him Pickles. FML

Do you want fries with that? In all honesty, I like the idea of rescuing animals, but, you are right, there is a limit, especially if it is in your home. Hopefully you can reach a compromise! Until then, I hope you like Pickles :P

You need to control her. Also some areas have a limit on how many animals you can have. Better check that out before animal control comes knocking on your door calling you an animal hoarder.

I agree with some of the other posters in that you can take them in, but only until you find them a new home. Plus, strays can have a lot of issues (i.e. fleas, illness, etc). We had a stray we took in with a mouth infection and thyroid problem. We kept him separate from out cats until we got him medical attention. There are no-kill shelters, but sometimes they can be packed. You are at the point where you should be putting out ads to get these cats homes. Explain to your wife that they would be happier in the long run. They would have owners who can give the cats the attention and space each cat requires. 15 cats is a lot, and I live on a large property. The more cats you have, the more chances of you or one of the animals getting ill, or one of the cats having territorial issues.

On the bright side, you"ll never get lonely!

My mother in law has 27 cats she has rescued. Most of them were on the verge of dying. I think it's a great thing to do. she takes them to the vet, feeds them, and tries find a home for them. I wouldn't be able do it... At least her house doesn't smell!

Sounds like they are going to end up on animal hoarders. OP has gotta stand his ground because at some point that many cat's given the space they have can/will be a serious health issue for all those involved.

How did you know the cat was abandoned? It's a carnivore, it lives near Burger King, it likes the smell and the free food. Do the math. I think there's a good chance you "rescued" someone's pet. I understand rescuing an animal that looks abandoned, or that you've seen over a period of time and know doesn't have a home. But at the drive-through at Burger King? I think that's irresponsible and selfish.

Cats are like pickles. You can't have just one ;)

So... If he came out from a near by house... you just stole someone's cat...

OP should have a vet check for a microchip. I would certainly hope someone who lives right next to a busy commercial plaza wouldn't let their cat outside.
