Don't feel too badly. I would have assumed that she meant bathing suit too. Also, guys, get a clue. You only have so much space to type these things. She probably did have something on over it, but the bikini was still visible. She probably just didn't have the space to say that.
Okay... WHO in the world has a cookout that is business attire?? That's just weird.
You are as stupid as you sound. Suit. Work colleagues. Pretty friggin' clear.
lol thats just stupid..... when someone says put on a suit it means a suit not swimwear......
I have to say that a cookout in business attire is weird. Even in an office job (and, I've worked for government contractors most of my business career, save for my stint at the robotics company). Also I think referring to wearing "your suit" implies swimsuit more than business suit. Then again, I've never owned something I would consider "my suit"... probably a combination of being a programmer (almost never have to wear business clothing) and being a girly girl (hate businessy pants suits, not even fond of skirt suits). But, I empathise with you, OP.
you can show up in a bikini to my house.....hahahahha
WHERE in bloody hell do you work that they wear business attire to a cookout!? Quit that bitch!
u should have asked her if she had a pool or not instead of being embarrased lol

Why would they be wearing business suits to a cookout? Who does that?
Not so much an FML, you should have asked her to specify. You'll be made fun of, and laughed at about it later.. I suggest when that time comes make a snazzy comment like "Well, I stood out and I had the best outfit there. Always expect me to make an entran (e(insert wink he) e)" Don't dwell on it too much, it'll drive you insane.
