Today, our midterm exams were returned in my urban politics class. I had studied hard and scored 86%. The blonde girl next to me got a 92. Earlier in the semester she had asked me what state Detroit was in. FML

Is it Michigan? Michigan is a state right...? Just because she had to ask you a question earlier in the semester doesn't mean she didn't study harder than you right before the test.

Yes it's Michigan, and I agree with this. For all we know, she facepalmed right after she asked the question. We've all asked idiotic questions, and you're from Wisconsin, not Michigan. I'm from Michigan, and the only real cities in Wisconsin that I know are Madison (for UW) and Green Bay (because of the Packers). I agree she should know where Detroit is, but do you know exactly where Redmond, WA is? That's where Microsoft is. How do you know she didn't go home every night and study while you were out partying or playing video games? If you think she's so stupid, that should be your incentive to beat her next exam. Pick up a book a little earlier next time.

I'm willing to bet that most of the people on here who know where Detroit is know so because of sports teams, television shows, etc. and NOT because they are amazing geniuses at geography.

No, I hate sports and I have known where Detroit is since I was 2.

why would you even mention the fact she's a blond? does that make a difference? not all blonds are "dumb" or "stupid" as people portraits them to be. i'm a natural blond myself, so does that mean that i am dumb? good for her that she scored higher than you.

*coughts* I'am a blonde girl. And FYI i get TOP in my class in 14 of the 16 subjects i study. Including Maths! I'm not trying to be boastful but, just because she's blonde and didnt know what state Detroit was in, (Has anyone thought she mightnt be from th US?! I wouldnt have known the answer either as I'm from Ireland),Dosent make her dumb or stupid. It may mean that she studied more and what you did just wasnt good enough.

I know exactly how you feel, the girl next to me asked me where Spain was, and didn't know what Europe was when I told her that it was in Europe.

I dont know my geography or state capitols either, and I go to one of the nation's top universities. Not saying which one though. That shiet has nothing to do how intelligent a person is. That's like saying that memorizing baseball stats makes you a genius.

At least she didn't ask, "What state is Michigan in?"... And why mention that she's blonde? Is that supposed to make her stupid? Most of my friends that are smarter than me are blonde. YDI

There was a radio call-in program where you could win a prize if you could name any five state capitals. A foreign guy called in and said, "New York, . . ., LA, . . ., Chicago, . . . Houston and Miami," and they gave him the prize! They were just glad that someone was listening that time of night, even though the guy went 0 for 5! The right answers for that list are: Albany, Sacramento, Springfield, Austin and Tallahassee.
