OP ( and anyone else overweight) - To stop this happening again, I suggest the following Cut the sugar, stop drinking fizzy drinks, yes even diet ones, they are absolutley NO healthier than normal ones. Eat plenty of LEAN protien, such as chicken without skin, or turkey, or fish/shellfish with no sauces or dressings. Canned tuna or crab meat in brine is great for a snack Also eat plenty of steamed vegetables. Small frequent meals to start with. USE A SMALLER PLATE. . It tricks you into thinking you've eaten a big meal because the plate *looks* full. You haven't because you've used a small plate and a smaller portion. It's a very simple way to help you with portion control. Trust me this works, I've done it and still do. If you absolutely have to have something between meals, have a few grapes and some brazil nuts. Eat slowly, it helps you digest better and will give your stomach time to send "full up" signals. With exercise, start with walking. Increase speed over the next few weeks, add hills to your route, and then when you can walk a few miles without feeling ill or too badly out of breath, try signing up for a low impact aerobics class. Low impact to start with will be easier on joints that have been stressed by your being overweight. Once you get used to that you can ,ove to a higher impact class, or simply join the gym. Swimming is good for tonming and people with joint problems who cannot do impact exercise. I'm still on my weight loss program, but these are all things I've done and they've helped me lose nearly 60lbs so far. I have another 50 to go and then I'll be fine for my height. Saying "you're fat lose weight, that's gross" WON'T HELP ANYONE. It will make them feel worse and demotivated. Yes being fat is gross, I would know and so does the OP. You don't need to point out the obvious. The OP needs positive encouragement to help alleviate the situation regardless of how he/she got fat to begin with. HOW it happend is irrelevant, how to FIX it is what's needed.
I LIKE you!
I see your point and I like your attitude, 100. However, if someone can't handle personal criticism, no matter what is being criticised, she shouldn't put her struggles on display on a website that *literally* asks readers to say if she's deserved it and invite them to say why. Thousands of nutritional and weight-loss focused websites are just as accessible as FML. The OP's time would be much better spent on those sites where her story could elicit both a sensitive, empathetic ear and practical help to overcome the problem. I can understand being discouraged by namecalling, etc., but I have to question the OP's motives for opening herself up for the inevitably harsh responses. This isn't like a random stranger approaching and mocking her; this is a solicited and predictable response to information she's choosing to make public. If OP knows she'll be discouraged by these comments, she either shouldn't read them shouldn't submit the story at all. To do so in light of the facts is entirely self-defeating; when you are so easily demotivated and insecure about one area (and we ALL have those areas), you can't make yourself so vulnerable then blame others for stealing your motivation. That's just masochistic and to be frank, a bit lazy.
invites* shouldn't read them OR shouldn't submit*
Point taken, oc; I stand corrected. I'll concede to your expertise and amend my statement to "weight-loss support group websites." They can at least provide a sensitive ear and empathy. :]
Uh-oh, I think you've just given some sound advice on an FML comment! Perhaps the mods will let you trace the IP so you can send a bill for your consultation fee. ;]
I backtraced it! And I alerted the Cyber Police! The consequences WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!
all you people on here are ****** up. inconsiderate. grow up.
I feel sorry for the security guard. He should be the one writing the FML. "Today I had to pat down a lady under her huge fat roll in my job as a security guard at the airport. FML"
lose weight. that's nasty.
lol. This is too funny.

Time to do some good ol' fashion exercise... Put your hands up to the ceiling, bend your knees, and touch your toes. Do your daily exercises, you're gonna look like skin and bone. :)
Were you too big to fit through the metal detector too?
