Today, the family computer's 15-year-old CRT monitor which gives me headaches finally stopped working. My dad quickly found a replacement: an even older CRT monitor that gives me worse headaches. FML

I agree. It's like the FML where the girl was mad at her mom for doing her laundry wrong. OP sounds very inconsiderate and doesn't realize that not everyone has lots of money. YDI. Sorry if I misinterpreted this FML, but I'm just going by what it says.

There's no need to make OP's life miserable just to teach him that life can be a b*tch. CRT monitors were horrible. No one should use them anymore. Like I said in a comment above. Money doesn't explain this. You can get an LCD for not a lot of money and if you're lucky you can get one for free if someone throws away his old hardware. That's what I would do if I were OP. Just ask around. Don't be shy and go check school, universities etc. You'd be surprised what you can get from an university if you're lucky ;)

CRT monitors use more electricity than LCD, so they would be saving on their electricity bill if they upgraded. Why should OP get a new pc when they could just get a different monitor?

No it's not..when you can get something for free but in turn you ^%#% about something isn't a fml its laziness. There are multiple websites that have a free category and there are monitors on the sites all the time.

default is 60 iirc. try 59 or 75. Or try turning off any nearby lights

Move to Sweden--> get a citizenship--> enroll in school(best if it's gymnasium) -->get a free laptop. Or you know, just go to the library or maybe even buy you own? I'm sorry that was rude, you might not afford one of your own... Btw This is your dads way of saying that you need to spend more time outside hahah
