Today, the girl I dumped three years ago because she wouldn't take my band seriously is now a successful and rich environmental scientist. Meanwhile, I'm still unemployed, living with my parents, and can barely remember how to play a guitar. FML

Lol that's what you get for dumping her for a dumbass reason dude. YDI

In a way, YDI. It seems you were one of the idiots who had no backup plan just in case music didn't work out. But in another way, I respect you for attempting your dreams. Maybe try getting a stable job, and getting your life back on track, and one day maybe you could try again! Just keep a job, and another plan on the back-burner, just in case!

You dumped a girl for a ******* band?

One of the curses of being a musician...

OP probably assumed he'd become a superstar, and have a bunch of hot little groupies following him everywhere, leaving no time for a stable girlfriend. Lesson learned, I suppose.

You had no backup plan? Well then YDI. So many bands are great but they never even get close to making it. Going for it is fine, but at least take a night class once a week.

Agreed! I believe that people should pursue their dreams and aspirations whole heartedly. However, you shouldn't put then above your family, friends, or relationships. Sometimes life can become hard and leave you broke and unemployed. But if you have a firm foundation of support from your family, friends, or a relationship you can overcome those hardships together. You may not always have money or a job, but solid and genuine relationships will always be there for you at the end of the day. People are so much more important and valuable than money could ever be. Plus, you have a much easier time and a greater chance of achieving your dreams, aspirations, and a successful career if you have a support system comprised of family, a boyfriend, a girlfriend, or a spouse by your side to encourage you, uplift you, and help you along the way. However, I am in no way implying that you cannot achieve all that you want for your life without having the support from your family or a relationship, because you certainly can. And some people may even feel that it is easier that way.

If you're in a band you should never pin all your financial hopes on its success.

Don't let your life end on a sour note! Buck up and live your life a-chord-ing to how you want. Don't let anyone riff on your way of living.

We ee ee ee eeh are never ever ever gonna hear the end of this when his band hits it big.

How did he stick to his dreams? He is unemployed, living with his mom, and can't remember how to play his guitar. Obviously you didn't take it seriously either.

Hindsight is 20/20. Find something else your passionate about & go for it.

Or he can just get a job & move out of his parents house like a normal person.

Girls always know, OP. Well. On some things. But this time, she had good intuition.

Without a girlfriend around, I'm sure your getting a lot of practice playing the organ.

Really, Perdix? You're so much better than this. *You're

Blame the mistake on heavy cough medicine. :P What's lovelier than a rose on a piano? --Two lips on an organ.
