Today, the guy I'm dating found out I have severe arachnophobia. He downloaded a picture of a huge, hairy spider and set it as background on my iPhone. I can't even unlock my phone, as every time I try, the spider pops up and I drop the phone. He laughs every time I do it. FML

What a cruel joke to play on someone. I hate it when people play on other people's phobias, just to get a laugh out of it.

What an jerk! I know how you feel I'm terrified of spiders and would be pissed if some one did this to me

You picked a winner. Ps a picture of a spider is as harmless as a picture of fire, satan, whatever scares you. Work it out.

It's really not as easy as that. Severe phobias can be very crippling.

Story of my life. A spider crawled on my arm and I started bawling

Maybe find a boyfriend that isn't such an asshole? Ask him if he goes around pushing people out of wheelchairs and steeling them too.

Put a picture of a big huge black penis as his background... To be honest that's almost every guy's worst nightmare.

If you can't get him to take if off your phone, have a friend do it. Really though, it's taking a joke too far if he just leaves it on there. Not to mention if you end up dropping your phone and the screen cracks, he won't be laughing anymore.

Try to unlock by entering the password without looking at the phone, once done change the wallpaper and change the password. I hate when people mess with my iPhone.

I would ask a friend to unlock it and delete the picture.

What an ass. Legitimate phobias aren't something to use against someone in a joke or tease them over. I really wish people would get that while it's funny to them, you're doing quite a lot of harm to the person just to amuse yourself. I hope this boyfriend likes not being trusted for being so harsh about her phobia..

Quite a cruel joke OP. On the practical side there is one thing you could have done yourself provided you had 'settings' opened in multi-tasking. Just in case no friendly face is around to help you out next time this should happen do this: 1. Cover the upper part of your iPhone, all besides the lower 1cm of the screen. 2. Slide to unlock the phone. 3. Double click the home button to bring up multi-tasking and choose settings. 4. Then you could uncover the screen and change the background image in settings... That's at least better than resetting the phone to factory settings with the help of iTunes- the brute force method.
