I read somewhere that it's a "normal"/"expected" phase in a young boys life to torture animals, not severely, as a part of "exploring" and "curiousity". It's sickening regardless, though.

The past is the past, completely irrelevant in this situation. He could have changed, people tend to stop being their child self. The way I see it you got an easy solution- raise your hand and ask to be allowed to change seat.

I don't understand how someone can torture a helpless animal who can't defend itself. I see a puppy and think "awwww how cute." A weirdo will see the same thing and imagine cutting it up while it's still alive. wth

Don't judge just like that, he "use to" torture, meaning in the past. Try to be more open about accepting people along with their mistakes. After all, no one is perfect, it's a thing of the past.
