people in charge do this shit all the time...same thing wit my ex's drivers home test, in the states capital!
Harsh one man....... the passport strike is so ****** up.. i heard the waiting list in 50,000 passports now & they're bringing in outsiders to try and move the backload
I'm the OP. I sat in the passport office yesterday trying to get an answer. Was told that I will not get a passport in time to travel. when I asked about the money and the fact that it is was taken out over two months ago, I was told that the government needed the money, but I didn't need the money!!! FML
Kinda sickening like, My friends and I are all going to London and one of them is in this same situation... I got mine in the Cork passport office, took two weeks,
The passport strike is rediculous -for those outside Ireland they are striking because the government is threatening to dock their pay if they do not fulfill their duties. So they are striking because they want to be paid if they do not do their work properly.
And they wonder why people attempt to make fake passports
To the people who assume this person's in america or elsewhere, they're in Ireland, and currently all the areas of civil service and such are on a work to rule thing. As for going to politicians, the Teaoseach of the country is as useful as a fish with **** and the other politicians either don't have the power to do much, or can't be ****** to help. The FML is for real alright. I feel pretty bad for OP and everyone in OPs situation, since this whole industrial action is hurting the everyday folk more than the incompetent arseholes in the Dail. FYL OP
What makes the whole passport thing worse is, that stuff is supposed to take 2 weeks to get done and posted, it did when I got mine a couple of years back, all they really need to do is stamp the thing and have it sent to be printed out, from what I hear. OP and others have been waiting 2 months+ and it'll take a total miracle to fix this any time soon, so people who have paid the ridiculously high cost of a passport have more or less been ripped off completely. I feel sorry for all the people who have to get to another country to see a relative who's dying, or people who've spent ages looking forward to a nice holiday to only have it denied them.Really an all out strike, as opposed to doing even less than usual would have been far less disruptive to people. It sucks they're getting money taken from them yeah, but everyone's been hit but the bankers and the REALLY wealthy. Though really, it's always been like that.
Dude ... don't book anything unless you've got your new passport in your hand. I used to work there and seriously, the number of idiots who blame us ...
You should call your local congressman or state assemblyman's office. I used to intern at mine and we delt alot with people who needed to get there passports immediately, a few times I remember making some calls and getting people their passports, that they wouldn't be able to get for months, on the same day for all kinds of reasons
It's in Ireland so you know dirrerent country, different rules
