Today, the passport office informed me I won't get my passport in time to go on holidays. However, they took the money for the passport out of my account 2 months ago, causing me to go overdrawn, and not pay my travel insurance. The same insurance I needed to get the cost of the holiday back. FML

you clearly can't afford a vacation if your account went overdrawn before you even got all your affairs handled. ydi for living outside of your means

I know a girl who managed to get her passport two days before her trip even though she had applied for it months in advance...she knew a guy in the passport place who agreed to meet her down a back alley, she said she felt like she was involved in some kind of illegal activity. Turned out her passport had been ready for ages but the people working in the office refused to take it out of the box behind the desk to hand it to her. I think they should all be sued for compensation, dirty knackers

My fiance' has to provide 5 different pieces of proof of id for his passport, what gives? Our daughters came in 3 weeks, they applied together... He got a letter said to send all this crap, stuff you actually have to go out of your way to get??? I've never heard of this in the US nor does the US passport website help with this in the FAQ's. I believe this guys post because any and all governments have full control of how to screw with us, they decide when and who to annoy at will. I hope he finally got his passport of a refund of the fees...

I have not heard about an insurance that would have paid in the case of you not getting your passport in time. Feel happy that you did not waste additional money on the insurance.

Hindsight is 20:20. If you couldn't afford it why would you do it?
