Today, there was a big party at my workplace. The only person that was socializing with me in any way was my co-workers 4-year-old daughter. Before leaving, she drew smiley faces on plastic plates and napkins and gave them to me so I "will have some friends and not be all alone". FML

That really sucks op, but I bet your coworker will really appreciate how much her daughter liked you!

At least you had such an adorable little girl to try cheer you up! Always look for the silver linings OP!

Awe! That is so sweet of her. I know how you feel, OP. I'm socially awkward and shy, but you can discipline yourself and make friends no matter what. Good luck, OP.

Though you don't see it, this is a very good thing. You may be shy, but small kids don't come up to every adult. Therefore, you must be a decent person for a kid to hang out with you. If I were you, I would take this as a strong affirmation of the goodness/likability that you have but don't see, and remind yourself of it at your next gathering, and remember you're approaching people with it, and adult friends will come.

I think that it's sweet of her to do that :)

I would say a human is better than a cat or a dog...
