Today, while I was on a field trip with my son, my husband decided to get rid of our dog without asking anyone. Now I get to pick up the pieces of a broken heart, and he thinks he did nothing wrong. FML

My ex step-father got rid of the car without asking, not even to a vet. The bastard drove a few blocks and threw the cat out of the car. One of the MANY reasons I despise this man.

I ******* hate assholes like that. There are some kittens at a feed store in my area that got tossed out of a moving car and had road rash. Now it's healed and they're being adopted out, but who the hell does that to an animal? I think animal abusers should get the same treatment of what they did to the animal...

Did you get this dog without asking him by any chance? Does he like dogs? Was the dog violent? It does sound a little heartless but that could be because I like dogs. If I came home one day to a cat in the house I would be extremely displeased and if I happened to leave the door open and it vanished I wouldn't really care.

So you think getting rid of a pet is a valid excuse for a divorce? That's ridiculous. A pet shoudn't jeopardize a happy marriage. It isn't worth it. Get a new dog.

this is not a simple mistake. This is deliberately doing something important w/out asking the wife, and breaking a kid's heart. That is grade-A asshole behavior. You don't get rid of a husband because of an actual mistake, but if he really thinks he "did nothing wrong" he's either gloating over some successful showing of his power and control of his family, or a totally worthless and self-centered asshole. Either way, that's a huge red flag that this is not a relationship the wife or kid needs to be involved in.
