If they saw the cockroach, they would instantly realized it was not lice. If they didn't see the cockroach, I'm doubting that the first thing that comes to mind would be lice. (Unless, of course, you have nasty hair.) Good luck, but chances are they are avoiding you for other reasons. ;) Oh, and now that I think about it, they would definitely realize if they had cockroaches. Maybe they are avoiding you because of that knowledge. Idk, who cares. It's not life-threatening if they don't enjoy your company.
