Why are you giving candy to kids without asking their parents? Also, you are rewarding bad behaviour, the mother should have smacked the kid for it's whining.
what if the kid is diabetic and already had sweets?? you could have seriously hurt him.... always ask first. sorry but ydi
Always ask the parent first before offering candy to a child.
Extreme reaction to your manager, but you should not have given candy to a kid without the mothers consent. I'd be pissed. My kids angry because he's learning he can't always get what he wants. You enabled behind the mothers back. Always ask first.
To be honest I'd be annoyed as well. Basically you're showing her kid that if he kicks up a fuss he'll get what he wants. Or maybe the kid is diabetic. Or or or. You should have asked the mother first.
She's a bit right. The mother was probably trying to make a point with her child that he couldn't get anything he wanted by crying out loud in public and you just proved him right.
So much for being a good person
I feel like most of the people in these comments don't know what grooming is...
Why would you give the kid candy knowing the parent didn't want them to have any? You definitely deserved it!

While the mom overreacted, she may have had a reason for not giving him candy. Better safe than sorry and ask.
You are kind of encouraging brattiness when you do that. YDI
