Today, while mowing my backyard, I messily discovered that a family of rabbits has been living out there in the tall grass. FML

Bro, he mowed the shit out of them.

Oh my god. I would be horrified. How many rabbits were there, OP?

Talk about unlucky! Was probably very hard to see yourself. FYL

I am suprised that they have not moved after hearing you. Poor rabbits anyway :(

rabbits instinct is to be still and try to blend into the background.

They were blended into the background all right.

As someone who has done this before let me start by saying I am so sorry. You feel so guilty afterwards, for me at least I felt bad for a few days afterward. You eventually come to the conclusion that things like that happen, and are, really, unavoidable. Best of luck op, try not to let it eat at you too much.

Checking your lawn before mowing it makes this situation completely avoidable

53 sorry everybody isn't as perfect as you.

who the hell walks around the entire yard to check for animals before mowing?

I don't know about you but I'd rather not walk 10,000 acres before mowing.

53 - are you trying to be stupid on purpose?

I'm there with you, I've accidently mowed a small rabbit in short grass because it was so well hidden. Did feel bad BTW. #53 Not walking a few acres for that, better to watch while you mow than give them time to come in again.

Oh my god that's terrible. I'm sorry you had to experience that. I couldn't even imagine if that was me. FYL indeed.

Do you by chance live in the pokémon universe

I'm pretty sure the Pokemon universe has gore turned off

If it had been the Pokemon universe they would've just fainted.

OP used lawnmower! A critical hit! Its super effective! Wild Bunny fainted.

My friend turned on his lawn mower after winter once, and he soon found out that a family of mice were nesting on the blades...

Oh god.. You should be more careful next time. Wouldn't want that to happen again. Poor rabbits :(

Reminds me of when my dog killed two bunnies, thinking they were play things. Discovered them the following morning and I felt so bad about it since the mother rabbit seemed to be moving her young to a safer spot. I still feel horrible about that even though it's been over a year but shit like this happens and all you can do is move on with life.

my dog would "play with"" baby birds that fell out of our tree in the back yard. so sad

You get used to it after awhile, my cat would bring home anything from shrews to baby turkeys.

Once you regularly have a carpet of mangled rodent carcasses on your front walkway from your cats, you just sort of shrug and step around them. ...Or step on them by accident in the dark. Or their spleens once the bugs are done. ******* spleens...
