Today, while on vacation, my parents called to inform me that my best friend had died in a car accident. Why? To trick me into tearfully confessing my love for him. It worked. FML

Best parents ever??? I'd be moving out IMMEDIATELY and not talk to them for a long while if that happened to me! Her parents are straight up awful. They shouldn't even have a kid if they're going to play a nasty prank like that! That's NOT ok!

Have you ever lost a friend/loved one? Can you possibly even imagine how that must feel to hear that they're dead? That is a terrible DISGUSTING excuse for a prank. Definitely better ways to get OP to confess her feelings. No, these parents absolutely suck, and I hope that you can realize that.

Okay moving out and not talking to them is a little extreme. Yes it was a mean prank and they shouldn't have done it, but that reaction is too much.

And the emphasis of sarcasm is missed. Zing !

42 - no its not extreme, are you ******? how would you like it if your heard your friend died??!!! especially coming from a parent, i would not trust them ever again, and definatly be pissed enough to not talk to them for awhile

this should serve a wake up call to go after him because one day it might actually happen

Unless you know your friend is dealing with some shady characters, faking another person's death is no wakeup call. It's just another stupid, thoughtless prank.

So you're really saying moving out and never speaking to your parents again over a prank (while the prank was stupid and thoughtless) is really the best idea?

One day you'll remember that and laugh while visiting them in their retirement home.

I see your parents are subscribers to the "the ends justify the means" philosophy.

I don't understand why some parents think it's cute to instill trust issues in their kids.

Never okay to fake a death but I still laught a little, I guess I'm the devil...

that sucks! but now that its out, maybe you should go for it!

"It's ok they're just kids, it doesn't matter"...."Kids are so impressionable"

At least he's not actually hurt. That's still really low, though.
