Today, while working as a barista, a customer yelled about her muffins and butter not being ready since she only had a "short time to eat". There were 7 tip giving customers ahead of her, but I rushed her order. She gave no tip and stayed for over an hour. FML

It's sad how rude some people can be even when you try and do something nice for them.

No Cutsies! That customer pulls that shit everywhere to get to the front of the line I bet.

She didn't say she put her ahead and skipped the other customers. She said she 'rushed' her order, which means she asked that the womans order be prepared in a more rushed matter, while still preparing the other customers orders.

barista, ok so your a server at starbucks. you pour someone's coffee for them, like a waitress? just checking. curious though, what is tip on a cup of coffee and muffin, did you bring it to her table or hand it to her like the Dunkin donuts employees do? they don't usually get tips.

Where exactly does it say OP works at Starbucks?

They probably tipped you because she was an asshole. I always overtip my severs and leave a note if I notice another table being rude. I try to speak up for them since I've worked retail. I never hated the general public more than after my first two jobs. people can be ruder and more vile than I had ever imagined.

People in the service industry are actual people. Nobody seems to remember that. I ALWAYS treat them with respect. It is one of the shittiest job categories ever.

Can't agree more. Most people think if you work there you are stupid which is unfortunate. It's like any other job it pays and most fast food jobs or companies like walmart give benefits. Most people that complain about customer service people would be horrified if they had to deal with people like them on a daily basis and would choke or do something stupid and get fired.

I completely agree! Working with the public is usually a thankless and demeaning ordeal, especially in the food and drink business. You'd think that people would be more inclined to be nice to them because they do, in fact, handle your food. I used to work in fast food, and let me tell you, it is not easy. The work itself isn't hard, but dealing with the customers and the other employees is where the stress level kicks in.

The customer sounds like a complete jerk... But it should have been basically implied that you weren't going to get a tip since she "had" to complain to get quicker service. I will also add that not all people tip, so you'd be better off not expecting one and then be surprised when you get one. How much would a barista get tipped anyhow? Change from the five dollar bill or something like that?

-__-. I hate the customers that don't know how to wait and act like complete assholes

a barista is an over glorified fast food rep. if you think you deserve a tip for kissing a customers ass ocer a muffin, ydi.
