Today, while working at McDonald's a car full of obnoxious teens came through. They had made a $30 order, and handed me a tin of small change, claiming that on a McDonald's ad they saw that we, employees, liked counting change. I had to count out $30 in spare change during a rush period at work. FML

you should have said "**** you, and come back with cash"...or, you should have gotten your manager to say that instead...i've done that as a manager because bringing in a tin of uncounted change and expecting the clerk to count it for you is just plain rude. it holds up the line behind you and makes everyone unhappy.

You should have refused them service unless they counted it out themselves. If it was during a rush, your manager would have backed you up.

Any retailer can refuse to serve a customer or ask them to leave. I think they can choose what legal tender to accept, eg. online shops only accepting credit cards. $5 limit on change as payment: Currency Act 1965: 16 Legal tender (1) A tender of payment of money is a legal tender if it is made in coins that are made and issued under this Act and are of current weight: (a) in the case of coins of the denomination of Five cents, Ten cents, Twenty cents or Fifty cents or coins of 2 or more of those denominations—for payment of an amount not exceeding $5 but for no greater amount; (b) in the case of coins of the denomination of One cent or Two cents or coins of both of those denominations—for payment of an amount not exceeding 20 cents but for no greater amount; (c) in the case of coins of a denomination greater than Fifty cents but less than Ten dollars—for payment of an amount not exceeding 10 times the face value of a coin of the denomination concerned but for no greater amount; (d) in the case of coins of the denomination of Ten dollars—for payment of an amount not exceeding $100 but for no greater amount; and (e) in the case of coins of another denomination—for payment of any amount.

THANK SOME 1 REALIZES THAT SOME TEENS ARENT AT ALL BAD

"The OP does NOT deserve that shit just because they work at a job you don't think is glamorous. Get over your ******* selves. Actually the OP should be praised for having the patience to work at a job like that. Public service jobs like that are the HARDEST ones out there, and people should have a lot more respect for those who do it. Numbers 6 and 14, and anyone else who thinks someone "deserves" to be treated horribly because they work at a job like McDonald's, you make me ******* sick. I hope all your food and drink gets spit in when you treat people that way at their job. At least these people are working hard, doing what they have to do to get by. Grow the **** up and quit judging them. Now to the OP... You didn't HAVE to count that money did you? Some managers would tell brats like that to quit wasting time and come back when they had real money. A couple dollars is one thing, but 30 is ridiculous. And their comment is what pushed it over the line. If I were you, I definitely would've told the manager so they could deal with it. Restaurants have a right to refuse service to anyone, so if they're causing problems like that - for you and the other customers who were waiting behind them - the store would've had every right to tell them to leave. Good luck in the future, hope you can find something better" #17 your right. and especially in this economy people are doing whatever the can to survive. So all you ass holes step off. I had a job at a place as a volunteer and i got 4 dollars an hour for college money and i worked 3 hours and i had to clean up after all those ass hatted teens. So i know what work is like and i had to quit because i had to get a real job but then all the positions were filled where i lived so im stuck at home with no money living with my parents (have to 16) and im so broke i have to depend on sites like prize rebel for stuff

I completely agree with you here, I've been working in fast food ever since I turned 16. I am now a third year college student working two jobs to get by. At Taco Bueno and with the Oklahoma Chief Medical Examiner's Office, which is in fact a fantastic job and my planned career. I get so frustrated with customers who come in and treat me like I'm dirt under their feet simply because I work fast food. If working fast food is so terrible then they shouldn't be paying my check simply by eating there. I mean come on don't disrespect the people serving your food, especially if you would like to get it with no 'extras'. SO to all of you people who look down on fast food workers, why I ask you why? What possible reason could you have for treating someone that way? To the OP that is just ridiculous, I hope you remember their faces and told your manager that way if they do it again the manager can take care of them next time.

This sorta happened at my McDonalds. Except someone else accepted the change, and a manager asked me to count it, so that other people could keep working.

Actually did you really have to count it all out? Why didn't you just take most or all of the change and claim that you counted?

Next time you see them, kick 'em in the teeth!

Wtf, I would've thrown it at their face and told them to gtfo.
